What is SDIBC?

The STEEL DETAILERS INSTITUTE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA (SDIBC) is an institute established in 1995, under the provisions of the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (ASTT) Act, to represent the professionally certified steel detailers of British Columbia.

The goals and objectives of SDIBC are to:

steel detailing Promote high quality standards in steel detailing and demonstrate the important role that detailers play in construction
steel detailing Enhance the professional recognition of certified steel detailers by employers and within industry
steel detailing Encourage members to practise responsible detailing while maintaining integrity in carrying out their duties
steel detailing Facilitate continuing professional development of its members

With the support and cooperation of the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC), a self governing, professional association whose mandate is to advance the profession of Applied Science Technology and the professional recognition and career development of Applied Science Technologists, Certified Technicians and other members in a manner that serves and protects the public interest... the Steel Detailing Special Certification Program was created.

ASTTBC currently registers 9,500+ technology professionals in 16 applied science technologies and 8 special certifications. Steel Detailing falls within the latter category.
